Check These 3 Things BEFORE You Hire
A Bathroom Remodeler

There Are A Ton Of Bathroom Remodelers In New Jersey.
Here’s How You Find The RIGHT One For Your Project.

If you’re searching for a proven and reliable bathroom remodeler in New Jersey, it’s important to do your homework. Researching a company BEFORE you sign a contract with them prevents headaches and wasted money.

In other words: Due diligence is an absolute must—period.

Fortunately, researching a bathroom remodeler doesn’t have to be tough or time consuming. Just a few key facts that are easily found will tell you most of what you need to know.

Here are three ways you can quickly and competently vet any bathroom company you’re considering…

#1: Read A Bathroom Remodeler’s Google Reviews

There are a ton of sites where you can find online reviews of bathroom remodelers. We encourage you to look anywhere and everywhere to get as balanced and fair a picture of any bathroom remodeler you are considering.

For homeowners looking for the most reliable information, we suggest Google Reviews as a particularly good source of information. While no review site is perfect, Google has an interest in making sure it continues to deliver reliable and useful information to people who use its search engine.

What should you look for when you look at a company’s Google Reviews?

Two key things to note right off the bat:

  • The total number of reviews
  • The average overall star rating

If the number of reviews is tiny, you have no way of knowing how reliable the overall rating is. But if the company has 25 or more reviews, the overall rating becomes a much more trustworthy indicator.

#2: Explore The Company’s Website

A company’s website is not the ‘be all and end all’ for judging a bathroom remodeler. There could be some quality remodelers out there with lousy websites and vice-versa.

BUT…

In most cases, the professionalism and quality of a website is a surprisingly good clue to the professionalism and quality of the contractor.

If the company doesn’t have any website at all (or they just use a Facebook page as their “website”), chances are they are a low-budget operation that operates out of a truck instead of a physical location.

For companies that do have a website, visit the site. How does it look? Does it have quality information about the company and the company’s products? Does it look like some care and attention has been put into the design and layout?

Again, none of that is a guarantee of a great bathroom remodeling experience, but it is a sign of how much care and professionalism they are likely to put into their work.

#3: Find Out What Material They Will Use

If a company has a good website with useful information (see #2 above), you’ll likely find info about their materials there. The three most common wet-area remodel options are 1) liners, 2) traditional tile, and 3) heavy-duty acrylic bathtub and shower systems.

Acrylic liners are fast to install, but it’s not a full replacement of your tub or shower. Basically, the company sticks a thin liner directly on top of your old one. This has a lot of drawbacks—including the possibility of covering up problems like mold without even knowing it.

Traditional tile can look beautiful when it’s done, but this method takes a lot of time to complete. It is also by far the most expensive option. You’ll also find that the grout that goes along with tile gets dirty fast. (This kind of remodel looks its best on the day it was installed—after that it requires maintenance to continue looking good).
